WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems (WHIS), a key division of the WITTENSTEIN group, serves as the company’s centre of excellence for high-integrity and safety-critical embedded systems design. Established in 1949, the WITTENSTEIN group operates in over 40 countries, employs more than 2,800 people, and achieved a turnover exceeding 500 million USD in 2022/23.

Originally part of the aerospace group, WHIS has spent over 25 years at the forefront of safety engineering, developing technologies that power mission-critical applications across the globe. As WHIS is first and foremost a safety company, we are committed to shaping the future of safety-critical systems. This expertise sets us apart in the RTOS market, where we bring direct experience in developing safety-critical applications, including flight control systems, implanted medical devices, and subsea oil and gas platforms.

WHIS specializes in our RTOS offerings, including the WITTENSTEIN RTOS, also known as SAFERTOS®, a safety-certified Real Time Operating System that has redefined performance and dependability in the most demanding environments. Our product portfolio also includes OPENRTOS®, the commercial license for FreeRTOS, as well as the Enhanced Security Module and Safety Plugins, providing unparalleled security and flexibility.
