SAFERTOS® Expands its Multicore Portfolio with Support for the New STM32H7 Dual-Core microcontrollers

SAFERTOS®, the safety critical RTOS available pre-certified to IEC 61508 and ISO 26262, is adding to its multicore portfolio with integration for the new STM32H7 dual-core microcontrollers (MCU) from STMicroelectronics. SAFERTOS the premier safety RTOS developed by WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems, supports the new STM32H7 dual-core devices released by STMicroelectronics today. The new STM32H7 MCUs are the industry’s highest-performing Arm® Cortex®-M general-purpose MCUs, combining dual-core punch with power-saving features and enhanced cyber protection. The STM32H7 dual-core devices combine high performance with multiple security features, including Secure Firmware Install, and built-in support for Secure Boot and Secure Firmware Update. Combining these security features with SAFERTOS's impressive safety credentials makes a compelling solution for developers in the safety and security markets. SAFERTOS is a safety critical RTOS that has been independently certified by TÜV SÜD to IEC 61508 SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASILD, implemented across industries including Medical, Automotive and Industrial markets. SAFERTOS is used across a variety of multicore designs, and is often seen on the booting or safety core. On the STM32H7 dual-core MCUs SAFERTOS is provided running independently on both Arm Cortex-M4 and Arm Cortex-M7, with synchronisation at start-up. Developers can easily boost efficiency and performance through flexible use of the two cores.

All features of the TRACE32 awareness for SAFERTOS do not require any additional target configuration or any hooks or patches within the OS itself. The philosophy of TRACE32 is for the application to behave exactly the same in the debug environment as on the final product; only this way can 100% certainty of testing be achieved.
