FreeRTOS is an open source real-time operating system, or RTOS. Developed in partnership with the world's leading chip companies over a 15-year period, the FreeRTOS kernel is a market leading RTOS, and the de-facto standard solution for microcontrollers and small microprocessors. FreeRTOS was created by Richard Barry during his time working for WHIS. Since then, WHIS has offered FreeRTOS services including licensing, porting, and an upgrade path to SAFERTOS, for applications that require certification to IEC 61508 or ISO 26262. In 2016 the stewardship of FreeRTOS was taken over by Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Richard also transferring to AWS. At this time AWS and WHIS formed a strategic business alliance allowing WHIS to fully support FreeRTOS. WHIS is pleased to offer FreeRTOS training to the ever-expanding FreeRTOS userbase.

The new FreeRTOS training course would be highly beneficial for any Software Engineer, Field Application Engineer, or Project Manager tasked with the development of an application that would benefit from an RTOS. It is ideal for those coming from bare metal environments who now require the advantages of an RTOS. The hands-on exercises and guidance from experienced trainers provide a well-supported learning environment tailored to the attendees needs.

The course content provides a thorough exploration of the functions and capabilities of the FreeRTOS kernel, with modules on Task Management, Queue Management, Interrupt Management, Resource Management, Memory Management, Trouble shooting, and the FreeRTOS Memory protection unit.

For more information about the course content, how to book a course, and other FreeRTOS services that are available, please visit the WHIS website.
